2K Games has secured Ben Brinkman from the creators of Apex Legends to lead the studio crew at their internal studio, which is currently developing the anticipated over-the-shoulder roguelike extraction-shooter known as this innovative game.
Management Shift Follows Poor Feedback
The new appointee takes on the leadership position at the development studio following the departure of former leader Michael Condrey, who was reportedly let go due to the game's underwhelming early showing last fall.
Recently, the company's top executive a key figure informed staff about this organizational change through an internal memo, which stressed that playtesting had indicated the requirement for a clearer vision.
Ismailer stated that the developers is now overhauling the project with a revised focus, aiming to better meet gamer demands.
A Pattern of Key Recruitment
This announcement echoes a similar step taken by 2K Games in the summer, when they hired Rod Fergusson from Blizzard to contribute to the BioShock development group.
Below is the full content from the president's announcement:
Dear Team—
I know you all just wrapped up your gathering - I trust you’re as enthusiastic as I am with the recent updates. Last time I shared you all a note, I stated the following: “I believe in this group. You all are some of the most dedicated and creative developers we have had the pleasure to work with - and we’re looking forward for that relationship to persist.”
Through your commitment and versatility, particularly over the past twelve months, you continue to prove that.
The community feedback from last autumn’s the game playtest was revealing. It validated the potential of a action-packed game but indicated we still had improvements to make. It revealed the requirement for a sharper brand.
It’s been inspiring to see how far you’ve advanced. You took the input to consideration and overhauled the title with a refreshed vision - one that’s poised to achieve its ambition to our audience.
The trust in this project grows every day. To boost the incredible development you’ve made, I’m excited to announce Ben Brinkman as the latest Studio Head of 31st Union. Following some time of conversations, he starts with us on the specified date.
Ben’s guidance and background in the PVP shooter genre is considerable, having dedicated the past decade and a half creating and overseeing some of the most recognizable franchises in the industry, including the acclaimed shooter, and most recently, Apex Legends.
Please join me in receiving him in the coming days. We are all excited to continue seeing the progress of the game in the months to ahead.
David

Game Details and Concept
Project Ethos was announced in last year together with a early access event. Then, the developers presented the game as a "free-to-play, third-person perspective roguelike hero shooter and an innovative advancement on the category."
"Create your ideal gameplay session—or face defeat—in this engaging over-the-shoulder adventure! Build your hero in real-time to fit your unique tactics," the description states. "Face the opponents with new abilities, challenges, and challenges that shift every session. Do you leave securely with your collected items? Or aim high, gamble everything, and pray your squad can achieve the highest spot? The option is yours."
The game has not yet received an official launch window or supported systems, but enthusiasts can anticipate further news as production progresses.
