Authorities stated they were notified by a individual who found a car in Hanau marked with reddish substance

Around fifty vehicles have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.

Cars, walls and postboxes were marked, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they announced in a release.

Officers state they were notified late on Wednesday night, when a resident discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored substance.

The liquid had been drawn in the pattern of a swastika, they stated.

Officers then discovered multiple other smeared vehicles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Swastikas are banned in Germany under legislation banning the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.

Police state initial examinations indicate the fluid was most likely human blood.

"At present there remains no indication as to where it came from; authorities are not yet aware of any physical harm in relation with the occurrence," they commented.

Municipal representatives announced they were working "to unravel the mystery" and have requested to the public for tips.

An important political figure commented the vandalism left him speechless and required to be resolved quickly.

"This event hits the very heart of Hanau and revives the pain of the extremist terrorist attack in 2020," he stated on a platform, recalling the killing of nine people by a assailant focusing on people of foreign heritage in February 2020.
